My favorite 2 tunnel route with small sidesteps.
Great day with impressive light and clouds.
Trying to capture 'The Tunnel Experience'.
|
 | Tunnel entrance - the Maastunnel for cyclists. |
 | There is an elevator too, but who would want to take that when you can take a ride on this! |
 | The trusty but alway a bit leaky tunnel. Or so it seems as there are always tiles missing or coming loose. |
 | Amusing place to advertise your stuff. |
 | I wonder how many wooden escalators there still are. |
 | Mermaids welcoming you to the deep. |
 | From the dark into the light. This must be one of the prettiest tunnel exits existing. The impressive ss Rotterdam moored in just the right place. |
 | Yes, clouds are playing a major role today. |
 | I consider this the main entrance to the Waalhaven. |

 | What a great spot. |
 | Was occupied, better pics another time. |
 | Looking back from a 577m long path to the middle of Waalhaven. |

 | Small detour to visit the walking ship. |
 |
|
 | Good to see it walking again ;) |
 | Clouds and sunbeams on the Vondelingenweg. |
 | Took the longer 'industrial' way around to the Benelux bicycle tunnel.
The shorter way is through Pernis, a more 'natural' route. A nice contrast. |
 | Going under there. |

 | Down we go.
Elevator here, too. Mostly filled with scooter smoke. |
 | All steel, glass and concrete here. I like the light in the narrow high space. Next generation bicycle tunnels made out of nano-plastic most likely. |
 | Quite steep. Easy to get 45kmh ;) |
 | Again, light at the end of the tunnel. Last picture, phone memory full. But a nice one to round off a tour I will hopefully make many more times.
