Route dictated by wind direction: east-southeast. Packed food and drink and rain gear, let's see how far we get.
|
stop at one of my favorite traffic junctions, Knooppunt Ridderkerk.
"Noordbrug"?
First thought it was a spider jumping around at my resting spot. It was a tiny tiny frog
This route is marked by long long straights. Okay this one has a curve.

Merwedebrug
There is another straight for you.
Cabbage as far as the eye can see.
Resting spot with ominous clouds packing. Changing batteries.
The Biesbosch. Very dark with the cloud cover and a moon sickle. 6 kms on a dyke path with the grass lighting up on the side. Sheep here too, had to weave through the sleeping animals.
At the Moerdijk bridge, raining plenty now. still warm, a welcome cooling down, didn't even put on my rain gear.
Late nite snack here. Impressive lightning, felt a bit uneasy riding through open fields. I saw half of the lights go out at the Moerdijkbridge after a distant big flash.
Dawn. This ride took a lot longer then expected. Much due to horrible roadsigns. If there were any. Strava app helped out nicely though.
Back in the city. Quite tired now. Already worrying about the Erasmus bridge, which is quite steep.
| Made it! Was not too bad in a lower gear.
Rotterdam is so pretty in the morning. I hardly ever see it ;) |

Another memorable trip. Will do this one again but during daytime. Would like to see more of the Moerdijk area there with the nature and railway bridge. Also a modified hybrid cross trial road bike with a thus compromised saddle angle and position is not the best! It hurt badly towards the last third of the trip. The first headwind part - 40km - was fantastic, it really makes a big difference. A steady 25 kmh was no problem, even 30 when I felt like it. Had to conserve energy though (and I'm glad I did)
