Quiet warm evening, little wind. Testing lowered bar (inverted stem) and saddle (-0.5cm).
At Waalhaven Zuid. Ship "on legs". It is quite big. Can be seen from very far away. Has not walked for considerable time.
A bit further I was probably the first cyclist on the new path they were building (Reeweg). 'Twas not finished completely but was OK to drive on it they said.
Thanks lads for your work on the fantastic bikepaths we have in this small flat country.
Back in windmill country. Stopped here a while to enjoy that mighty sound of the blades cutting through the night air. Tried to record it, but a phone mic does not do it justice...:
Looking back to the Spijkenisserbrug. A bit more scenic route back to the Vondelingenweg.
2e Petroleumhaven. The bright orange spot (next to the purple lens artefact :P) is actually one of the "Eternal Flames" of Rotterdam's industrial cookery.
That flame was more like this. (photo by Marcel Kooiman)
Yeah... ... much more like it.
Exit from the Beneluxtunnel.
Some events:
- On the unused old road I came to a small wet spot across, as if someone left the garden hose running. Went through it at medium speed but there was a big hole hiding under it. Big bump, almost throwing me off and landing me on my nuts. Thank you front suspension and sturdy tires, no damage done. Lesson learned, be aware of crossing innocent looking water streams.
- No Buzzard at the Neckarweg, but I was looking up a lot more this time since I learned about them.
