Kompas Route

maps	Exactly 1 year ago I started cycling with 3 kms a day. Let's do some sort of celebration ride. The weather is mild, about 9 degrees C, 2bft. Heavy fog predicted. Could be interesting.
	Here is where I am going, never been there on that narrow strip of land in the middle of the river. The giant compass is a nice mark.
	Looking from the other side to my favorite Hoek van Holland route.
	That is not a ship on fire but my trusty cellphone doing its best to make pictures at night.
	Destination reached. Full moon with halo peeping through the clouds.
	A bit of a shame, there is some advertisement construction in the center of the compass.
	The view around is spectacular though..


	On the way back I saw the lights of a big ship on the other side passing. Crossed the road to have a look. This is on a long walkway when someone walked by to go fishing. Well what a great spot. If I ever go fishing, not likely, I would choose a spot like that.
	I climbed on a small dyke to have a better look around. Many ships with blazing lights, very impressive. Enough energy wasted to power a small town it seems.
	I regret I didn't take my decent camera with me. Although it is a nice picture, it is nothing like it was, being there. It was a bit hazy, the detail and the colors were amazing.

	The predicted fog did not materialize. I prepared for it by bringing rain gear, as you will get drenched like if it were rain. Maybe for the best, that moon is spectacular.
	Back on the Vondelingenweg. On the way up I saw a nasty accident here. Traffic jam. Saw a cyclist laying down, medic half hartedly at work with a box with wires. It looked grim. Later found out a trauma chopper was cancelled and the man transported to hospital. Hope he is allright. Not much left of his bike. Looked like an experienced rider, protective gear and all. A strong reminder of how vulnerable we are.
	Stopped here a while to look at the skills of the crane driver. Tried to capture it on film but was really below low par quality.
	Again wish had my good cam with me. Right next to the bike path a brightly lit railroad track, amazing contrast, colors and atmosphere. Oh well... next time.

	Back at the Maastunnel. She looks nice at night :)
