Feeling not too good lately I decided to try and pedal my way out of it.
On a well known road. That had changed as I found out later...
There was a big road construction going on near Vlaardingen, all bike paths were rerouted.
3 cyclists were coming side by side towards me on a narrow path. That was okay - just - but then some scooter driver also coming towards me decided he could overtake the 3 cyclists. They were 20 meters away. Full braking and just missed the f*****.
Speeding up, looking back in anger I did not see the path was curving slightly and found my wheel touching the curbstone. Summersault. Instinctively made some kind of roll, let go of the bike halfway. Lost some skin on elbow, shoulder, back and ankle. On my bike only the aerobars were slightly damaged and shifted.
After inspecting the damages I decided to go on. No broken bones or major damage. Not a scratch on my helmet! Glad I have it tho.
Sitting here thinking things over.
Finished contemplating (not the crash, that was consequence).
Awareness level 70%, an improvement.
...and lesson learned: Never Look Back In Anger.
